Jack Kerouac once said, "truth is music." For up-and-coming pop band, An Honest Year, these words say it all. United by their passion for music and need to break free from the boredom of going with the crowd, the five members of An Honest Year (Matthew McKay- vocalist, Stephen Morrell- lead guitarist, Jonathan Pfingsten- rhythm guitarist, Jordan Mitchell- bassist, and Greg Pinney- drummer) came together to be true to their unique musical sound, to reject the norm and be honest with themselves. Motivated for by their vision of success for who they are not and not who the musical masses tell them to be, these artists came together to form An Honest Year with a sound openly influenced by national acts such as Boys Like Girls, Blink-182, New Found Glory and Yellowcard. Although music brought them together, the more than 1,000 miles between Florida and Pennsylvania made collaboration difficult, but not impossible for these determined musicians. After months of Skype rehearsals and Google+ Hangouts band meetings, the artists came together and tackled the central Florida scene before making their way up the coast to PA. With the band officially together in more than spirit, these aspiring pop-rock stars are ready to chase their dream as they produce, play and ultimately begin to live an honest year.
